Tori Darke….adding more stars!!!!
Mt Annan’s Tori Darke returns from Queensland’s Northern Suburbs Country Music Festival held at the Gaythorne RSL Club on the 2/3rd June receiving the ‘Morris Irving Memorial Trophy” and adding four 1st places and a 2nd to her growing list of achievements.
Tori travelled the miles and competed against other highly successful performers (up to 17 years) to take out 1sts in both the Country Vocal, Australian Composition & Australian Bush Ballads. Another 1st came when she teamed up with Liam Brew from Caloundra for the Duo Section singing their rendition of “Whisky Lullaby”. Country Gospel saw Tori take 2nd place rounding of the weekend.
Tori says “The people have made me feel so welcome and they treat me like I’m at home. It has an exciting atmosphere and there is a real sense of friendship all around. Even though we are competitors we all remember to have fun but above all we support each other.”
This is not the first time Tori has been successful in Queensland, in March she took out the Overall Festival Winner at the ‘Cane Country Music Festival’, returning in May for the Urban Country Music Festival in Caboulture and was the runner–up performing a first time duo with Liam Brew.
Tori is also a Telstra Road to Tamworth 2007 Finalist and recently performed in the Winners Performance Showcase in Newcastle along with Kirsty Lee Akers, Morgan Evans, Amber Lawrence and Sharnie Fenwick. They will all perform again in Belmont at the 16’ Sailing Club on Saturday 2nd September.
There’s no stopping Tori now, as she continues to fulfil her dreams. She heads off to the North Coast for yet another Country Music Festival later this month, and then it’s off to Tamworth for the “Hats off to Tamworth” in July. August will see Tori compete at the ‘Gympie Muster Festival’ in Queensland, then off to Parkes for the ‘Parkes Country Music Festival’ in late September.
Tori also continues her local gigs and grand final performances with her ‘Country to the T’ duo partner Taryn Trautsch in and around Sydney.
