Tori Darke
Press Release - Nationals 2007

With the world as her oyster
Tori Darke
continues to shine in the Country Music scene.

Armed with her new custom made mini Maton guitar and her amazing voice, Tori Darke continues to set the music industry on fire!! Tori’s outstanding renditions of John Williamson’s “A Bushman Can’t Survive” and Sugarlands “Something More” caught the attention of the judges as Tori was awarded a close second in the Junior Nationals Showcase at St. Mary’s on 24th November. This prestigious event is held annually and is open to all performers who qualify during the preceding year.

The National Showcase followed closely on the heels of the Qld Champion of Champions, the event that boasts its past winners as the likes of Keith Urban. Here Tori won Best Duo with her partner Liam Brew and placed 2nd in the Vocal category. Such a high achievement from an interstate performer is an amazing feat on its own. Most winners from the Qld Champion of Champions have gone on to sign with major record companies.

The St Arnaud Hoe Down in rural Victoria saw Tori receive another acknowledgement of her hard work in receiving the St Arnaud Country Music Club & Commonwealth Bank inaugural Scholarship to Camerata in 2008. Camerata is held in Tamworth each year selecting 21 of Australia’s best young up and coming artists to work with some of the Industry’s most prestigious artists. This is the same college that discovered Sara Storer.

These competitions are aiding Tori in preparation for the major Events in Tamworth held in January each year. The Toyota Country Music Festival is the biggest country music festival in Australia, where we have seen many major artists evolve from the talent quests.

Tori will be showcasing her talents in and around Tamworth as well as performances in Peel Street and entering some of the talent quests.

Tori performs on the 2nd Sunday of every month at Menangle House Horse and Jockey Inn at Menangle in Sydney. You’re welcome to come along and enjoy lunch in a beautiful restaurant and country surrounding.
